Opis
BLACK SAILS is a 39.95-metre Wally 130 high-performance sailing yacht, launched in 2009 by Wally Yachts, with naval architecture by Javier Soto Acebal and exterior styling by Amanda Levete. Hull, superstructure and deck are built in Advanced Carbon Nomex, with a teak deck, and she is recognisable by her all-black livery and carbon fibre detailing.
Her open deck layout makes good use of her 40-metre length, and an awning system shelters the entire area when needed. The open transom is a veritable terrace on the sea, with easy access to the water via the bathing platform. The free-standing main deck seating and dining furniture provides a spot for hosting small groups and can be completely removed for hosting larger groups or for racing in regattas.
With a strong racing pedigree, she carries a Hall Spars carbon mast and boom with a super-high modulus masthead rig and three spreaders, EC6 carbon standing rigging by Future Fibres and a sail wardrobe by North Sails, Evolution Sails and One Sail. She can be transformed from a luxurious cruising yacht into a regatta racer. The last dismasting and service took place in 2024.
Her first refit at the German yard Lürssen, carried out in collaboration with Harrison Eidsgaard Design, won the 2011 World Superyacht Award for Best Refit, and a second refit at Hinckley Yachts followed in 2013. Under her current ownership she receives significant upgrades every winter.
