Description
GALILEO BOAT YARD IMOCA OPEN 60 - AN OFFSHORE THOROUGHBRED READY TO SAIL AGAIN
Built by Galileo Boat Yard in 2004, this Open 60 belongs to the most demanding breed of offshore racing monohulls. Designed for blue-water passages, solo or short-handed, she combines true ocean-racing DNA with a recent overhaul of her energy and safety systems. A boat with real character, for an owner who counts miles.
Construction and seakeeping
18.28 m overall, 5.25 m beam and just 8,500 kg: a power-to-weight ratio straight from the racing world. Hull and deck are carbon, delivering the stiffness and lightness needed to handle deep-ocean conditions. The rig is served by a backstay, mainsail track and car, spinnaker gear and a bowsprit allowing the full wardrobe to be flown on every point of sail.
Propulsion and power
Auxiliary propulsion comes from a 15 hp OCEANVOLT SD15 electric drive fitted in 2020 with only 1 hour of use. The electrical system has been fully rethought with a new bank of 8 lithium batteries and a Fischer Panda 11 kVA generator, both from 2025 - autonomy designed for long-distance sailing and power-hungry autopilots.
