Description
EXCESS 11 - THE SPORTY CRUISING CATAMARAN READY TO CAST OFF
Launched in 2023 by Excess Catamarans, this Excess 11 represents the new generation of cruising catamarans, designed to combine real helming pleasure with genuine liveaboard comfort. German flagged, she is laid out in a 3-cabin / 8-berth configuration and carries an unusually complete navigation and energy package, the result of a serious long-distance cruising programme.
Build and seakeeping
At 11.42 m long with a 6.59 m beam and a draft of only 1.15 m, the Excess 11 offers outstanding volume for her size and easy access to shallow anchorages. The hull is polyester, the deck GRP - fibreglass, for a displacement of 9,000 kg. The sail plan includes a full-batten mainsail, a furling solent, an asymmetric spinnaker and a Code 0 on an FX 4500 furler, served by a boom with lazy bag and an electric winch.
Power and range
Propulsion comes from two 2023 Yanmar 30 HP SD engines on sail drives, with 1,143 hours. She cruises at 6 knots for 4 l/h, with a top speed of 11 knots. Tankage of 400 litres of fuel and 300 litres of water, backed by 1,200 W of solar panels and a lithium PO4 bank of 4 x 200 Ah, provides serious autonomy at anchor and under way.
