Today I would like to introduce you to the author Jean-François Diné, whom I met last year at the boot in Düsseldorf. He had a stand there that I couldn't pass by. That's where the picture above was taken (Carsten on the left, Jean-François on the right). The book title "Swap uniform for ocean" immediately piqued my interest. Although I don't speak French, we somehow managed to understand each other. This is probably a special phenomenon among water sports enthusiasts that I have experienced more than once.

In the book, the former gendarme describes how he sails with his wife and dog Mischka in a self-built 10m sailing boat from France, via Gibraltar to the Canary Islands. In Africa, the two then sail up the rivers for some time before finally crossing the Atlantic. He describes many exciting experiences, but also problems that will certainly be familiar to many sailors.

I am only now reporting on it, as I only found the time to read the first book during my last vacation. However, I really enjoyed the book and would therefore like to recommend it here. I'm already looking forward to reading the second book "From the Orinoco to the Amazon on a 10-meter sailboat". Click here to go to Jean-François Diné's website: http://jeanfrancoisdine.eu/ - I'll keep my eyes open at boot in Düsseldorf, which starts on 20.1.2024, and see if we meet again. I would be delighted.
