A knife like a yacht!

Different, very different - THE KNIFE. by GÜDE.

The short handle invites you to grip the knife much further forward than normal. So far forward that the thumb and index finger enclose the blade. The blade becomes a natural extension of the hand - a secure grip and precise guidance guaranteed.

Perfect craftsmanship in the Solinger Trockendock

Drop-forged from one piece of steel, seamless connection of the handle wood with the blade steel, made in a centuries-old technology. No edge disturbs, all transitions are flowing. This turns the chef's knife into a hand-flatterer and the blade into a breakwater.

In the Solingen knife manufactory GÜDE, every knife is a handmade unique piece. More different is hardly possible. And so it comes as no surprise that THE KNIFE. has received several awards, including one of the oldest and most prestigious design prizes in the world, the "Good Design Award" from the Chicago Athenaeum. THE KNIFE. is nothing more and nothing less than the reinvention of the chef's knife.

Speed boat, luxury yacht or flagship

To ensure that every kitchen captain, whether on land or on water, finds the right boat, aka knife class for himself, THE KNIFE. is available in different versions.

The speed-boot variant is made with a blade of a knife steel that has an optimum hardness of approx. 57-58 HRc (Rockwell), making it sharp and flexible at the same time. Depending on your taste, you can choose between wooden handles made of olive, oak or dark brown smoked oak with finely accentuated grain.

The version with a handle made of New Zealand jade is downright luxurious. The jade comes from the Pelorus River in the Marlborough Sounds region on the South Island of New Zealand. This dreamlike landscape is a real treasure trove for the Greenstone, the New Zealand jade.

The flagship with a blade of "wild damask" consists of over 300 layers of a tough, elastic and a hard steel. In a process lasting up to two days, these layers are forged by hand into a blade of the highest perfection and visual delight. After another 50 manual operations, it becomes a hand-forged Damascus steel unique piece.

And yes, gliding through the waves in the kitchen on water or on land with THE KNIFE. is actually even more beautiful than just looking at it.
