FASTCAT 445 GREEN MOTION
AFRICAN CATS builds comfortable lightweight performance leisure catamarans through epoxy resin infusion for sailing enthusiasts that demand the highest levels of performance, comfort, speed, security and reliability. The secret? An innovative approach to boat design and construction that spans the gamut from materials and techniques to beauty and ergonomics.
FASTCAT 445 GREEN MOTION built in basalt, carbon, Kevlar, and PVC foam with epoxy resin infusion and equipped with GREEN MOTION propulsion/generation system is the first fossil free sailing catamaran. At the helm of this sleek Lavranos design you will be amazed at the ease with which you can cruise along in the mid to high teens. When the Motogens* are retracted the drag decreases and the actual sailing speed increases because no sail drives, props, prop shafts or shaft supports are in the flow of the water and the result is even less energy used.Check out the details of this design and see why we believe it is the break-through catamaran in this size range without diesel usage.
FastCat 445 Green Motion World Cruiser has all equipment needed for luxury and comfortable cruising. For those who do like a sportier, lighter and more basic version of the FastCat 445 we developed the Sports Cruiser with all needed equipment for long distance cruising like autopilot, GPS, chart plotter, VHF, Tri Data instruments etc. FastCat 445 equipped with the retractable Green Motion system for propulsion and generation is the first fossil free sailing catamaran.

Layout & Accommodations
Hull:
2 cab, 2 head, retractable el. motors/generators 3 bl. props.
Carbon Fibre hard top bimini with see through
Carbon Fibre Mast and Dyneema halyards
Coppercoat antifouling (new from June 2016)

Design:
With a final length of 44 ft 7 inch or 13.6 meter and a waterline length that has been increased to 43 foot or 12.99 meter, FastCat 445 performs now even better than before. The waterline length is extended by lengthening the bow, all the way from below the water line to the top. This makes the entrance finer, down to a 10 mm radius. The finer bows’ entrance decreases resistance resulting in a higher speed. The bows have two safety bulkheads in case of hull penetrations. In the rear, the transom is extended to increase the diving platform to a length of 1.10 meters or 3 ft 8 inch and an extra buoyancy chamber is added here. We have increased the headroom to more than 2 meters inside.

Sideview
By raising the stronger thicker type of rub rail with 60 mm or 2.5 inches and the port-holes that have been moved below the rub rails FastCat 445 gives a sleeker and longer appearance. Optionally, 6 portholes can be placed per side instead of the standard 4. All this gives the cat a cleaner, more modern look and it greatly improves visibility.
The all new FastCat has a very futuristic design befitting this new fossil free catamaran.

Interior
A large saloon with the galley up and navigation station looking forward and a comfortable U-seat that easily accommodates 8 persons guarantee an easy live aboard. Two identical hulls with king sized beds (2.20 x 1.80 meters) and a well
equipped head with separate shower (optional) give plenty room for an owner’s couple and their guests or crew. With the optional 3-cabin version the starboard hull has a cabin in the front.

Berths: 2,20 x 1,80 m or 7 ft 4 inch x 6 ft
and optionally a third cabin Basic configuration of the Green Motion system includes:

Motogen*
Underwater motor/generation unit. Durability, green construction and fossil free sailing where always high on the agenda, so he developed the idea to go for green cruising catamarans. Developing, innovating and having the guts to use all these new ideas resulted in FastCat 445 Green eMotion. All FastCats are ready to sail away when delivered. Most of our clients sail from Durban.
