Monster Project / Kosatka has unique feature which is the newly installed saildrive while the original retractable shaft remains in place and can be re-converted within hours. Like this she can perfectly serve with a very reliable and safe permanently installed saildrive which is a huge advantage in terms of safety and maneuverbility especially when sailing with guests or race charter. Within hours on the dry e.g. when cleaning the underwater the original system with gearbox and retractable shaft can be re-installed for serious racing.
Monster Project / Kosatka is know as the strongest built Volvo 70 of all. She has an immense potential unknown to most in the scene. Due to her super strong built hull that turned out to be heavier than most other Volvo 70s her bulb had to be reduced by one ton to fit the max. displacement rule of the Volvo 70 class. As all the structure and hardware are designed and engineered to handle the full weight of a typical Volvo 70 bulb now when racing under IRC, ORC or other handicap systems this missing ton can be added to the bulb again or even better the fin can be extended by a meter. Like this one can have a record breaking racing machine for a faction of the price the “Big Boys” are spending, Just to give a hint of the hidden potential, when the boat was launched with the original bulb and had it's first trials and trainings she was able to cover 300nm within 12 hours and this at the beginning of her life when there was still a lot to learn ….. An extended keel fin would be the ultimate boost of this for power reaching optimized design.

WORK TO BE DONE
As everyone in yachting knows work is never fully done on a boat. Monster Project is ready for sailing and charter. For serious racing my suggestion is to glue a split part of the lamminate on one of the dagger boards. It is not a structural issue but would prevent water and dirt entering into the gap. Further some smaller rigging jobs like lashings, perhaps lock strops and the like are better to be renewed due to exposure to UV light.
